Telecom Cambodia Revenues Drop by $1 Million in 2011

Telecom Cambodia, one of three state-owned enterprises with plans to list on Cambodia’s stock exchange, saw revenues decline by 3 percent to $31 million last year, an official at the company said yesterday. Lao Saroeun, director general of Telecom Cambodia, said that revenues at the company reached $31 million in 2011 compared with $32 million in 2010, a drop he attributed to fewer calls coming into the country from overseas when a connecting undersea cable in Japan was damaged during last year’s devastating earthquake. Mr. Saroeun declined to reveal the company’s profits but said that Telecom Cambodia has $1.7 million of outstanding debt owed to the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications. …
